The Vice President of the U.S.-Angola Alumni Association (US3A), Indira Fuacanangui, was the sole Angolan representative at the Legacy Conference organized by the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN), held from November 20 to 22, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The event marked a historic occasion by celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF), a flagship initiative of the United States government aimed at strengthening youth leadership in Africa.
With the theme “10 Years of Nurturing Young African Leaders: Shaping Africa’s Future with AfCFTA and Agenda 2063”, the conference brought together dozens of emerging leaders from across the continent to discuss the transformative role of African youth in building a more integrated, prosperous, and sustainable continent.
Indira Fuacanangui stood out as an active voice representing Angola, participating in panels, strategic sessions, and networking moments with other fellows and African leaders. Her presence reinforces the commitment of Angolan youth to contribute to the pillars of the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) and Agenda 2063, the African Union’s development blueprint.
The event also served as a platform for sharing experiences and formulating strategies to promote economic development, inclusive leadership, and the strengthening of collaborative networks among African countries.
