Who We Are
Nicolau Miguel
President
Nicolau Miguel serves as the President of US3A on a volunteer basis, where he leads and oversees the association’s operations, including strategic planning, mission implementation, and governance support. An alumnus of the 2019 YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship Program, Nicolau studied Public Management at Virginia Tech’s School of Public and International Affairs in the USA. In addition, he was named a 2021 Peace Ambassador by the European Commission & One Young World, and is an alumnus of the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps, the African Presidential Leadership Program, and the YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and recently completed a Master’s in Conflict, Peace, and Security, jointly delivered by UNITAR and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Fluent in English, French, and Portuguese, Nicolau draws inspiration from leaders like Dr. Myles Munroe to drive the vision of US3A.
Indira Fuacanangui
Vice President
Indira Fuacanangui is the Vice President of US3A, supporting the President in overseeing the association’s operations. She brings strong expertise in non-governmental organization management, with a focus on improving children's lives through education and promoting the integration of teenagers into society. Indira is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomatic Practice at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, USA. She earned a degree in Public Administration from Óscar Ribas University in 2018, and in 2022, she became a Mandela Washington Fellow. She also served as Angola’s Ambassador in Syracuse, New York, where she completed a Leadership in Public Management program at Syracuse University. With an impressive administrative background grounded in modern management techniques, Indira is an effective leader. She is a member of the International Leadership Association (ILA) and the Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research Association (SIETAR) in the United States.
Wata David
General Secretary
Wata David Serves as the General Secretary, overseeing organizational management, facilitating communication, and coordinating key initiatives to ensure the smooth operation and strategic growth of alumni activities. Wata David is a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow who completed the Leadership in Business program at Lehigh University’s Iacocca Institute and studied Business Development at the University of South Africa through the YALI Regional Leadership Center. He also participated in the English Access Micro Scholarship Program and holds credentials in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Leadership, Project Management, and Data Analysis from institutions like Wharton, University of Illinois, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania. David runs a furniture workshop in Soyo, Angola, providing vocational training and job opportunities to youth with hearing and speech impairments. His innovative projects, including a dual mosquito net stand and a one-way trash receptacle, have earned recognition from U.S. Ambassador Nina Maria Fite for their positive impact on Angola’s business landscape and community.
Boa Fernando
Treasurer
The duties of a treasurer typically include overseeing the organization's finances and ensuring proper financial procedures are followed. They manage the budget by creating, monitoring, and updating it as needed. The treasurer is responsible for preparing financial reports for meetings and stakeholders, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, and storing receipts, invoices, and other financial documentation.
They present financial statements to the board or committee and provide detailed reports during annual general meetings or other organizational meetings. The treasurer manages bank accounts and ensures funds are accessible when needed, overseeing investments or savings accounts if applicable. They issue payments, checks, and reimbursements as approved by the board or committee, ensuring proper documentation for all transactions.
The treasurer also ensures compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and tax obligations, including preparing and filing tax returns. They collaborate with fundraising teams to manage and allocate funds effectively, providing financial oversight for fundraising events or campaigns. Lastly, the treasurer advises the board or committee on financial matters, ensuring financial stability and sustainability for the organization.
Kenia Diva
Member

They contribute to policy development, support fundraising efforts, and represent the association to the public and stakeholders. Additionally, they ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards while evaluating the organization's performance and overall impact.
Kénia Diva is a humanitarian documentarist (Storyteller) with over four years of experience. She has played a key role in the communication and marketing departments of ForAfrika, the largest humanitarian organization in Africa. Her work includes collaborations with the University of Cambridge and the University of Bath in the UK, which premiered at COP27.
She has also worked on marketing campaigns for documentaries with UNICEF and conducted fact-finding research on climate change with United Nations agencies (WFP, OCHA, FAO, etc.) in southern Angola.
Kénia has been selected to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship 2024 in Public Administration at Syracuse University, New York.
Elsa Tchicanha

Board members of an association are responsible for guiding the organization's strategic direction, overseeing financial management, and ensuring accountability and transparency. They contribute to policy development, support fundraising efforts, and represent the association to the public and stakeholders. Additionally, they ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards while evaluating the organization's performance and overall impact.
She is a dynamic and tenacious lawyer with 15 years of PQE in in-house environments and law firms. In addition to practicing law, she is currently the Executive Director of the UK-Angola Chamber of Commerce, one of the local representatives of the Oxford Business Alumni – Luanda Chapter, a guest blogger for Lionesses of Africa, and an alumna of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. In 2008, she was one of Angola’s representatives at the 17th African Moot Court Competition, held in Pretoria, South Africa. In 2023, she was admitted to the prestigious Executive MBA (EMBA) program at the University of Oxford.​
